Many people may recall Rahm Emmanual famously saying “don’t waste a crisis” with regards to the 2008 financial crisis. His point was that a crisis gives us an opportunity to re-evaluate our current state, and to potentially do things we could not do before. The phrase did not originate with him, though, with previous attributions going to Winston Churchill in the 1940s and a medical writer in the 1970s.
